About Nebraska Center for the Book
NCB is not a place, but an idea and a vision.
History
The Nebraska Center for the Book is a 501(c)(3) organization. Our Nebraska Center supports
programs to celebrate and stimulate public interest in books, reading, and the written word. We have been
an affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book since 1990.
Mission
The Nebraska Center for the Book brings together the state’s readers, writers, booksellers, librarians,
publishers, printers, educators and scholars to build the community of the book. We are the people who
know and love books, and who value the richness they bring to our lives.

These committees assist in carrying out the mission of the Nebraska
Center for the Book:
- Executive — Consists of the officers of the Board of Directors and the Director of the Nebraska Library Commission.

- Lois Meyer, Secretary
- Funding/Membership — Helps identify and seek funding sources to support the Nebraska Book Festival, and looks for members to help support the aims and operating costs of the organization.

- Nebraska Book Festival — Helps
facilitate the Nebraska Book Festival, but does not usually plan the
festival’s programming and is not responsible for raising money.
Members help out at the event itself and help to arrange for the
next year’s location/institution, etc.
