Wright
Morris is regarded as one of America’s most gifted novelists and
photographers. Internationally recognized, he received the National Book
Award in 1957 and 1981. The Home Place is an account in first-person
narrative and photographs of the one-day visit by Clyde Muncy to “the
home place” at Lone Tree, Nebraska. This “photo-text” has been called
“as near to a new fiction form as you could get.” — University of

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Wright Morris, the Nebraska Center for the Book chose The Home Place as the One Book One Nebraska featured selection for 2010. When approached by members of the Lone Tree Literary Society with the suggestion of celebrating Wright Morris’ photographic and literary work, the Nebraska Center for the Book board enthusiastically approved this statewide reading promotion.
One Book One Nebraska 2010 is hosted by the Lone Tree Literary Society and is sponsored by the Nebraska Center for the Book, Nebraska Humanities Council, Nebraska Library Association, Nebraska Library Commission, and the University of Nebraska Press.
