Five DVDs of recordings of author readings ("2009 Nebraska Book Festival") are now available through the Nebraska Library Commission. Borrow them today @ your library. Share the experience: have the recordings aired on your local public access television station or host a viewing at your library.

Books published in 2009, as indicated by the copyright date, are eligible for nomination. They must be professionally published, have an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), and be bound. Books may be entered in one or more of the following categories: Nonfiction, Fiction, Children/Young Adult, Cover/Design/Illustration, Anthology, and Poetry. Certificates will be awarded to the winners in each category. Award winners will be presented at the Nebraska Center for the Book’s Annual Meeting and Book Awards Celebration, November 6, 2010, in downtown Lincoln. More information...

With more than 375 participants, presenters and vendors in attendance, the 2009 Nebraska Book Festival was a resounding success! Thank you to the presenters, Festival Committee, and volunteers who helped at the Festival. The Nebraska Writers: Cultivating Creativity 2009 Nebraska Book Festival will be held November 14, 2009, at the Nebraska State Historical Society’s Nebraska History Museum, 15th and P Streets, Lincoln, Nebraska. A selection of Nebraska writers will read from their 2009 works, along with readings from the winners of the Nebraska Book Awards. An awards luncheon will honor the winners of the Center for the Book’s various book awards. A Conversation with Three Poets will feature Ted Kooser, William Kloefkorn, and Don Welch. Teresa Lorensen of the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation will lead a book discussion of Aldrich’s A Lantern in Her Hand. Writers’ workshops will be led by Kelly Madigan Erlandson and Harley Jane Kozak. Pre-registration for the workshops is recommended. Except for advance ticket sales for the festival luncheon, the Nebraska Book Festival is free and open to the public. More...
